The Challenge Al Este is a film festival bringing together works from Peru, France, Argentina, and Colombia, with a focus on independent, diverse cinema. Based in Lima since 2008. After 15 years, the festival needed an identity that could work year-round, not just as a seasonal poster.
The Solution The name itself pointed the way: "east" became the concept of movement behind the whole system. From there came diagonal compositions, a black-and-white palette with an accent color inspired by quinceañera aesthetics, and motion graphics for trailers and digital pieces.
Al Este intro
Detailed Overview Al Este is more than a film festival, it's a celebration of the voices cinema too often overlooks. Bringing together bold, independent work from Peru, France, Argentina, and Colombia, it has spent over a decade turning Lima into a meeting point for stories that don't fit the traditional circuit. The experience goes far beyond the screen, weaving in talks, workshops, and residencies that pull audiences deeper into the world of film.

After 15 years of growth, Al Este was ready for an identity as ambitious as its mission: a visual system built to work year-round, not just around a single festival date. The challenge was to give the brand room to grow with it.

The breakthrough came from the name itself. Heading east became the heartbeat of the whole system, a sense of forward motion captured through a bold new typeface (CyGrotesk, by Kobuzan) and dynamic diagonal compositions that give every piece energy and direction. A striking black-and-white palette anchors the look, punctuated by an accent color drawn from the vibrant tradition of quinceañera celebrations for this edition's launch.

Motion graphics bring it all to life, powering trailers, transitions, and digital pieces with the same rhythm and movement that define great cinema. The result is a brand that doesn't just represent the festival: it moves like it.
